Training for women living with disability
PROJECT SUMMARY –
In a collaboration between Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, Regional Headquarters South-West 6, and the Karis and Eleos Hand of Hope Foundation, a four-day skill acquisition and empowerment program was held in Sango Otta, Ogun State, from Monday, December 5th to Thursday, December 8th, 2022.
The initiative was centered on equipping women and youths with practical, income-generating skills and business knowledge laying the groundwork for a more economically empowered society.
Hands-On Skills for Real-World Impact
Participants were trained in five highly practical and scalable skills:
- Bag Making
- Shoe Making
- Baking
- Adire (Tie & Dye)
- Recycling
These were not theoretical sessions. Participants got hands-on experience, learning each craft step-by-step from skilled instructors, giving them the tools and confidence to kickstart or grow their own businesses.
Business Education for Sustainable Growth
Beyond vocational skills, the program offered an essential business development class to ensure participants could not only produce but also profit from their skills.
Topics included:
- Reaching Out to New Customers
- Bookkeeping
- How to Access Loans and Grants
- Product and Personal Branding
This dual-track approach—skill acquisition plus business literacy—ensured participants were prepared not just to create, but to compete in the market.
Reaching the Community, Inspiring Change
With over 309 registered participants, the training made a deep impact. From young people seeking direction to women eager to support their families, the program became a springboard for hope and opportunity.
At the end of the training, 300 certificates were disseminated, symbolizing not just attendance, but a new chapter of empowerment.
A Vision for Visible Economic Growth
The goal of this initiative was clear: to build a society where economic growth is not abstract but visible, tangible, and community-driven.
By transferring practical skills and knowledge, we are investing in futures that can break the cycle of poverty, reduce dependency, and unlock creativity and self-sufficiency.
